“Don’t be afraid to ask.”

Meet Rachel, a Sr. Staff Engineer, Software. She’s reflecting on her experience having participated in the Palo Alto Networks internship program, what – or who – inspires her, and the advice she would give the earlier-in-career version of herself! Here’s what she shares:

“The Palo Alto Networks internship program and emerging talent program really helped me grow a lot in a short period of time. They offer a lot of support and an amazing network to help you get a great start to your career. Additionally, my manager has been a great advocate for me throughout my time here, enabling me to get promoted multiple times and further my career growth by putting me on projects where I’m always learning something new.

My friends I work with inspire me! I don’t work directly with some of the people I met through both the early talent program and the early in career network group, but I know how hard they work and I respect them so much for their dedication. Shoutout to Insiya, Kelsey, Franco, and Chirag specifically who keep me motivated to do my best work!

One piece of advice I would say to myself is don’t be afraid to ask all the “stupid questions” right away! That’s the best way to learn. Get involved and try to be as much of an information sponge as possible early on.”
